Matthew Tambellini has always been drawn to design with character. Before he knew what graphic design was, he was collecting skateboarding magazines, spending time in North Melbourne paint stores and experimenting with lettering and visual language. That instinct for culture, craft and creativity eventually became a career.
Working at the crossover of design and technology, More Studio builds brands for culture and commerce. The practice's point of difference is that web development is handled in-house, united with brand identity, art direction and strategy. For clients commissioning large-scale digital projects, that integration is rare and valuable — the people designing the brand are the same people building the website.
Their work carries a consistent signature: personality embedded into the interface. "We try to embed a brand's sense of humour within the strategy and approach. We think about how the interface can be opinionated — so it's not just a generic boilerplate site."
Projects for the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA), RISING Festival and Fed Square sit alongside fashion and hospitality clients across Australia and internationally. When they outgrew their offices in Mitchell House, the move to the Nicholas Building in 2022 felt instinctive.
